Jade Woofe (under 17 girls) and Sidone Brough (under 15 girls) won their respective finals at the Manchester Street Sprints Final held at Manchester Town hall on Friday 19th Sept.

Both girls went onto the National Final the following day at the same venue, between a number of other cities taking part from thoughout England.

Walter Hesketh (obituary)

One of the club's outstanding athletes of the twentieth century passed away on Friday 15th June 2007 aged 76 after a long battle with cancer.

Walter was an established International Athlete who was the first of only two athletes ever to win the Youths (1948), Junior (1950) and Senior (1952) English National Cross Country titles.

When winning the Senior title, Walter led the club to its best ever team placing of third.

Walter also held the British five and six mile records, the latter with a time of 29.13.8.

Photographs are available in the gallery of our annual presentation night held this year on Friday 30th March 2007.

Amy Brownrigg was a much deserved winner in her category for North West Sport Millenium Volunteer of the Year. Amy is shown in the photo with the glass award she received at the presentation in Liverpool on 27th January organised by Jill Mayers (Millenium Volunteer Coordinator For Greatersport). Amy has done a fantastic job for Manchester Harriers at athletics events hosted by the club throughout the year. Well done Amy!

Debbie Beresford was awarded the Unsung Volunteer of the Year at the Stockport Sports Awards evening held on 24th January 2007. The award for Debbie should probably be called the Non-stop Hero for the huge amount that Debbie puts in to the activities of Manchester Harriers! Well done, Debbie!
